PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY Associated Press Ticker News Dallas,Texas: 22 November 1963 |
For Sale President John F. Kennedy Associated Press Ticker News and Life Magazine Memorial Issue 22 November 1963 These historic items have come to us through the foresight of an executive secretary who worked for a large organization in New York's Rockefeller Center. Many such organizations - as well as Wall Street - kept up to the minute on fast breaking news thanks to wire service tickers (Dow-Jones, Associated Press, INS, Reuters, etc.). As described to us, it was the custom of this particular secretary to check the ticker machine on her arrival at the office. The AP ticker ran continuously, so she would first check what - if anything - of special interest might have occurred overnight, clip any such item, report its gist to her bosses, then discard the rest. On November 22nd, 1963 she was about to toss the first few feet of tape into a waste basket as of no importance when her eye caught an early report on President John F. Kennedy's arrival in Dallas, Texas. She decided that the on-going story of the President's trip was worth saving in the event she got a call about it from one or more of the politically oriented members of the office. Not long thereafter came the first word of the shooting and breathlessly she kept close to the ticker, relaying by telephone added information as it spewed forth from the ticker. At day's end, she gathered all the AP tapes concerning the assassination and checked to see if anyone in the office wanted them kept. When no one showed any interest (radio, television and newspapers were by then all carrying the story), she decided to keep them herself as an historic record of that fateful day. |

Many items as mentioned are now for sale in the many sections of the Beachcomber's Emporium where one could find unexpected bargains. They are for the most part items from a gone by era found when cleaning an attic, or perhaps one of grandmother's lost heirlooms. To be perfectly frank, we don't know ourselves what will be up for sale from one moment to the next. We can only suggest that if you see it listed and want to own it, buy it! Because in all probability, it may not be available next time you visit. A great number of items for sale have also been hand made at our studio in limited quantities. Usually one or at times two of a specific item is made, then we change gears -- so to speak -- and move on to create something else. No two items are ever alike. If by chance you don't see what you exactly want or need, let us know by eMail and there is the possibility we can make it for you at our studio. With reguards to the for sale items, we will do the best of our ability to post the actual picture or fully describe the items as we see it. For additional information please write to us by clicking our SWIFT ~ STUDIO e-Mail. For information about purchasing, including shipping and handling or other options, click here Q.
Our for sale items are listed under the heading of the material which they were made or the highest per cent material used to construct the final product. Thus a ceramic or clay bowl will be likely found in the “Ceramic” section; while a glass bowl or a crystal decanter will be instead cataloged in the “Glass” section. When purchasing, transactions are made with the aid of Pay Pal; we also accept Personal Checks, Postal Money Orders or Banker's Draft. To purchase any items click on their item price near its thumbnail and the e-Mail will pop up with the needed information in the subject box. How to proceed to purchase an item will be found on each page as you travel on the "Beachcomber's Trail." To order and pay it's easy and safe as 1-2-3- as it is briefly described in this panel below. |
