FAUX PAINTING and GRAINING

It seems this art concept has no beginning or end. Faux painting and graining has been around since man devised a paint brush. During the Italian Renaissance the old masters took this innovation to its zenith. Michelangelo in particular, used this technique when executing the Sistine Chapel. There after faux painting and graining has been applied to nearly all thinkable surfaces including glass, metals, walls and yes, it can even be seen bonded in the Formica surface on most kitchen counter top.

This is a small sample selection of faux painting and graining created at our studio

HAND PAINTED and DECORATED FURNITURE

Hand decorated furniture was another advent during the Italian Renaissance. With the discovery of new art techniques and paint chemistry the artist took the next logical step and began to transform a common piece of furniture into unique individual work of art. I have carried on this same tradition to the point where I am able to take a piece of furniture and transform it as if centuries old or, vice versa; or give it a hand paint treatment to make any simple piece of furniture into the focal point of the room.

Below are samples of but a fraction of the many furniture items that have been hand decorated at the studio.
