In this section we present  sample groupings of carved and veneered inlaid projects created at the studio. We pride our self in creating "one of a kind" designs. I personally design and create custom patterns and use a variety of mediums and materials as needed in all our projects. Here shown are leather carving examples as well as the use of abalone shell and turquoise inlayed in gun stocks trimmed with sterling silver. The hand carved basinet for the new born is totally original and functional to be safely used on the sturdy stand or independently for gentle rocking.

The mermaid ship’s figure head  below was constructed by using fiberglass materials which made it weather resistant on the high seas. The project was completed by hand carving additional details and applying 23 kt. gold leaf as the final finish.

Walrus Ivory Tusk Cribbage Board. This item was hand carved from a single ivory walrus tusk with additional figures carved separately. The detailed carvings depicts a Inupiat hunter while hunting Polar Bear. Detailed Tlingit Indian scrimshaw motifs were engraved on one side / arctic scenes on the other of the ivory tusk. In addition the head of the American Bald Eagle was carved at the tapered end and completed with a carved seal vignette at the opposite end. This piece measures approximately 18"in. /46 cm. long. The custom made storage box was made of imported Honduras Mahogany with an inlayed oval ivory medallion engraved with the owner's initial.

As shown, this item is currently a fine custom made example of our work at the studio. We can design similar items to meet your needs and budget.

COIN CABINETS

During the 1970's we introduced coin cabinets for the discriminating coin collector. We began by designing and constructing small hand-crafted coin cabinets of fine imported Mahogany and Brazilian Rosewood. Currently, all our coin cabinets are still made to order with the same craftsmanship and material that made them popular among coin collectors. Each small cabinet is highlighted with solid brass hardware with 6 sliding trays to hold a total of approximately 100 coins in felt lined circular slots. These examples shown have the overall dimensions of 7 1/4" high, 8" deep, and 11 1/4" wide. Several other styles and custom designs are possible upon request. Based on availability of materials used and detailing, the price may change from the coin cabinet examples shown below.

Samples: Carved and Inlayed Custom Coin Cabinets

STANDARD: Constructed of selected Mahogany and showing the best natural grain with a hand rubbed stained lacquered finish.
AMERICANA: Made of fine Mahogany, it is also inlaid with an American eagle vignette on top plus two shell inlays on the doors.
ANCIENT: Hand-carved solid wood doors depicting the ancient Roman As coin showing the head of Janus and ship prow.
In later years the demand arose for larger and more ornate cabinets and met this challenge by first sitting once again at the drawing board. I then designed several cabinets in a variety of solid woods and fine grained veneers. This next example shown was made by utilizing imported Brazilian Rosewood veneer and applied in a chevron pattern. The added detailing was achieved by the application of additional exotic woods such as inlayed Ebony, Walnut and dyed Birch veneers. A brass gallery on top holds in place a slab of imported Verde Venato Italian marble.

Featuring: BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD COIN CABINET

This large coin cabinet is fitted with one deep drawer and over all it can store a great number of coins inside individual trays with felt lined round slots. The double door front is fitted with a lock and key. As an added feature the four legged base can be removed thus transforming this floor coin cabinet model into a table top chest. Additional details are mentioned here.
