 Giovanni’s

MANUSCRIPTS

Welcome to the manuscript page.

Listed on this page I have made available a limited number of manuscript titles. These and others not yet posted include children stories, lengthy fictions, mysteries, science fiction, a lengthy fantasy trilogy and general fiction short stories. I usually write and illustrate as time permits away from other projects at the studio. My illustrating techniques are very basic and simple, preferring to render in watercolor and add the final details with pen and ink. Not all the titled presented here have been illustrated but should these be accepted for publication it can be achieved in a timely manner.

My name is Giovanni Caliendo. Among others endeavors I have been writing and illustrating since 1960. It is only very recently that I have taken some time away from my studio projects and began placing a few titles of my written and illustrated works on the Internet.

To date I have 25 completed titles that have been copyrighted; three of the titles have been illustrated and a number of others -- at least five -- I am tempted to transform them into digital books or fun computer programs for young readers. I became aware of this possibility not long ago when I was approached by IBM who wanted to use my illustrations into their programs for computer games and early learning CD sets. I was also commissioned to submit additional illustrations to be used with the original drawings and later their computer graphic team would have done the rest.

Unfortunately, as we all know, IBM was overtaken by the competing digital boom and my project was put aside. The Brave Little Spider would have been the first in a series of 12 disks. Thus while I still hold the copyright to this title as I do with other works I create at the studio, The Brave Little Spider was never published.

It may also interest you to know that my wife Emily is a writer and an Inuit artist. She writes and illustrates her own children stories and is currently in the process of writing and illustrating her autobiography.

Please take a moment to review the current titles, we will add others as time permits.

In closing I would also like to invite you to explore our web site by beginning at our home page.

Many thanks,

Giovanni
